Translation Works

This page gathers a selection of my translation samples from contemporary Korean novels, short stories, and essays. These samples come from moments in Korean literature that stayed with me: quiet passages, brief scenes, and voices I wanted to understand more closely through translation.
Each piece is an excerpt translated solely for portfolio and study purposes, with no commercial intent. To respect copyright, only short portions of the original works are included, and they are not to be shared or distributed outside this site. If an author or publisher requests it, I will remove any sample immediately.

『대도시의 사랑법』 (박상영 연작소설)

『대도시의 사랑법』(Love in the Big City) follows Young, a gay man drifting through Seoul with equal parts cynicism and tenderness, as he navigates friendship, heartbreak, and the search for something that feels like home. Through sharp humor and aching vulnerability, Park Sang-young captures the neon loneliness of city life — where love arrives in brief, brilliant flashes and leaves behind the soft echo of who we become.

『종의 기원』 (정유정 장편소설)

A series of abstract expressionist paintings exploring the connection between color and sound. Each piece visualizes the rhythm and tone of music through bold brushstrokes, dynamic compositions, and vibrant color palettes, evoking a multisensory experience of energy and movement.

『어서 오세요, 휴남동 서점입니다』 (황보름 장편소설)

An exploration of introspection through abstract art. This series uses vivid colors, organic shapes, layered textures, and immersive compositions to represent the journey of self-discovery and the emotional landscapes within the human experience.

『리틀 프라이드』 (서장원 단편소설)

『리틀 프라이드』(Little Pride) drifts between the lives of Tommy, a transgender man reshaping his body in pursuit of his truest self, and Austin, a man born small who seeks transformation as a shield against the world’s gaze. Their paths cross like two quiet tides, each moved by longing yet carried by different currents.

『시간이 있었으면 좋겠다』 (김신지 에세이)

A collection of abstract landscapes representing various emotional states. Through layered paint, rich textures, and dynamic blending, each work captures the essence of feelings like joy, melancholy, or serenity while inviting the viewer to connect deeply with their own inner world.
